The Arc Code of Ethics

    1. I shall respect the rights and views of my coworkers and treat them with courtesy and respect.

    2. I shall not engage in any form of harassment or discrimination.

    3. I shall extend respect and cooperation to others (outside The Arc) who work with (and support) the people we serve.

    4. If I have the responsibility of hiring and evaluating other staff, I shall do so in a fair, responsible, thorough, and equitable manner.

    5. I shall support the integrity and reputation of The Arc.

    6. I shall not use my professional relationship with the people we serve to further my own interest.

    7. I shall work to improve the services provided by the agency.

    8. I shall use the resources of the organization only for the purposes for which they were intended.

    9. I will adhere to The Arc's policies including those on confidentiality, smoking, abuse prevention, and safety.

    10. I shall accurately represent my education, training, and experience at all times.

    11. I am committed to assessing my strengths, limitations, biases, and effectiveness on an ongoing basis.

    12. I am committed to seeking appropriate assistance (professional or otherwise) for personal problems that are likely to impair my work performance.

    13. I will treat the people we serve with dignity and respect at all times.

    14. I will not engage in violent behavior nor threaten others.

    15. I will adhere to ethical practices in all business and marketing activities.
